Our team at Elite Turf takes pride in educating our customers about potential diseases that may be present in their lawns
During spring and fall, the thing to look out for in your zoysia lawn is Zoysia Patch Fungus. Zoysia grass is a top choice for lawns due to its lush color and hybrid sun/shade tolerance. However, like most grass types, it is susceptible to different diseases at certain times of the year. Knowing how to identify it and prevent it is key to protecting your lawn’s health.
Are you seeing small circles of straw-colored grass in your lawn? It could be dollar spot fungus, a subtle but harmful lawn disease. Unfortunately for homeowners, Dollar spot can be found in a wide range of turf types, including Bermuda, Zoysia and Fescue, to name a few. Most commonly seen in late summer and early fall, it can be found at any time during the growing season.
When you have a luscious, green, and healthy lawn, it also attracts unwanted pest. Our team at Elite Turf will help you prevent and fight these pest to keep your lawn looking its best
White grubs are the larvae of scarab beetles, and they chew on grass roots, causing the turf to turn brown and die. While adult beetles are pests in their own right, the grubs damage turfgrasses. Their chewing reduces the ability of grass to take in water and nutrients to remain healthy. Like a loose carpet, damaged turf will pull up easily from the soil.
The Red Imported Fire Ant and Southern Fire Ant are commonly found in yards that have not had preventative treatment. Though both types of fire ants can sting, the Red Imported Fire Ant is more aggressive and its sting can cause reactions ranging from irritation to nausea to more severe reactions.
Fire ants build large mounds, most often, in open, sunny areas. Colonies can also be located in or under buildings. Their mounds can grow up to 24″ in height under the right soil conditions. We apply the appropriate product at the appropriate time for the most effective results.
It is easier to prevent fire ant colonization than to eliminate existing colonies after an infestation. Trust Elite Turf to treat your yard for fire ants to ensure your family and pets can enjoy our yard without the fear of being stung by fire ants.
